" It Seems I've Heard That Song Before, Was From An Old Familiar Score! "

An advertisement for Akavar states, "Eat all you want and still lose weight. And, we couldn't say it on TV if it wasn't true." Baloney! You could, you do, and so do others!

According to the Federal Trade Commission's report issued in September of 2002, A review of 300 advertisements for weight loss products found that 40% had at least one false claim, and 55% had assertions that couldn't be substantiated. And, the beat goes on. The beat goes on!

This past January, four of the companies who were advertising falsely selling their useless weight loss aids ,(and were doing it for years), finally got fined by the Federal Trade Commission for unsubstantiated claims. The makers of Xenadrine, EFX, CortiSlim, TrimSpa and One A Day Weight Smart, paid a combined fine of 25 million dollars.

The FDC says American consumers spend 1 billion dollars a year on worthless weight loss aids. The market is flooded with false advertising of products and programs that promise you'll lose weight quickly and easily. Phony testimonials from celebrities and the average Joe, are often used to push the sell.

One of the questions for Talk Tuesdays was, "What changes will you make to your diet." Nothing drastic, no gimmicks, I hope! Participants in the SEE, (Sensible Eating and Exercise) support groups, eat healthy foods, enjoy a sweet treat every once-in-awhile, cut back moderately on their daily caloric intake, exercise regularly within moderation, get the support they need, and keep a daily diary of what they're eating. No miracles! Nothing drastic! They keep it simple, and they keep on keeping on! Lyn
