"Survive and Thrive" the coming week-end!

Let's focus on weight maintenance rather than losing weight over the long labor day week-end. Even if we want to lose more weight, it may not be the best time to do it. Maintenance is a big enough challenge. When we set unrealistic goals, that we can't attain, some of us tend to give up entirely! I wouldn't want that to happen when we've come so far. If we aim to maintain, we'll "survive and thrive"!

We talked about being active, eating in moderation the foods we like, and enjoying the company of family and friends. Let's also remember to have a snack before we attend the barbecue or picnic, so that we don't arrive half starved. Also, we'll make sure we get plenty of sleep so that we're not tired. Research shows that only two nights of sleep deprivation changes one's body chemistry to increase appetite and cause carbohydrate cravings. So, let's get our Zzzzzzz's!

Remember too, if we do overeat one time, it won't make a difference in our weight. We'll stay away from the mindset that "I've already blown it, so I might as well eat the whole thing". It takes days of overeating to gain weight. We'll just put that meal behind us and get back on track without feeling guilt and despair and plan to "survive and thrive". We can do it! Little by little! Inch by Inch! Lyn
