Onward!

I'm typing, a glass of water half full sitting on the shelf, and I'm feeling very virtuous! I'm really trying to drink more, knowing that water is good for me, and I feel "holier than thou" because I actually dislike drinking the water. Ah well! Bottoms up!

Something happened that I found interesting, and I want to pursue it as an addition to the SEE group and blog. I never belonged to an online chat group. BCAN (Bladder Cancer Advocacy Group) runs a support group, online, every Sunday evening from 8 to 9 PM, for people dealing with the various stages of bladder cancer. I decided to join in a few weeks ago.

It was an amazing experience for me! A group of about 8 people, including a moderator, were all talking from the comfort of their homes (one lives in Oslo, Norway), and supporting one another. It isn't the same as writing comments on the blog. Everyone talks, you see their name on your computer screen and there's instant messaging. Ideas are exchanged, support is given, like checking up on each other to see how every one's doing, or welcoming new participants and members who didn't attend the week before. "What a great way to get together", I thought. "I'd love to have that capability on the blog."

We live in snow country and it's hard for us to travel, especially during the evening hours. It would be helpful to many, if SEE were also to have an online support group one evening a week, from 8:00 PM to 8:30 or 9:00 PM. What do you think? Would you join in?

Now, here's the rub. I'm technologically challenged! Figuring out how to do it and set it up is proving to be difficult. I'd like to have a link on the blog for invited members and friends to be able to enter it easily. But, so far, the Yahoo and Google sites make it difficult for those invited to access. I'm still checking it out through, looking into other providers, and hopefully I'll have what I want up and running soon! It's another way to connect and a benefit for us all. New challenges and new ways of doing things are always exciting! Onward! Have a great week-end everyone! Talk to you on Tuesday. Lyn

I would love it! Can't get to SEE from Rochester. After dinner and all the dishes are done, instead of reality TV, I can sit down relax with a cup of coffee and join the chat group to speak as little or as much as I want. How cool is that? I think Sunday night is great! Not too tired from work, and nothing great on TV. Company if any has gone home already. But, any night you pick, I'll be able to attend most times.

I would love it too! Count me in. I wouldn't attend every week if that's ok but as often as I can. Just to have it available to me is great.

You come whenever you feel like it. It's there for you whenever you'll need it. Look at me saying it's there. I hope to get it there real soon. Glad you and Cindly are interested. Lyn
