Every day stressors can sometimes trigger us to over eat. The old saying "Laughter is the best medicine" still rings true. It's one of the best ways to relieve stress. Psychoneuroimmunology is the name science gives to the stress reducing impact of humor and laughter. In WebMd it states that "laughter may actually help us boost our immune systems and we'd be less apt to get colds and the flu. If we do, we'll heal much faster!"
On WebMD they also referred to Humor Therapy or therapeutic humor, using the power of smiles and laughter to aid in healing. "Humor may allow a person to feel in control of a situation, make it seem manageable and actually improve the quality of life!"
So, fall into laughter this coming season. Go see a funny movie or a comic entertainer. Read a funny book, tell a joke, laugh at yourself and hang out with happy people. Sing in the shower positive and happy songs like, "Look For The Silver Lining, Gray Clouds Are Going To Clear Up, You've Got To Accentuate The Positive, The Sunny Side Of The Street, and others."
Let's also go out of our way to make someone else feel good and lift their spirits as well as ours. Humor, laughter, smiles, and caring deserve to be shared. They're inexpensive, readily available and risk free, so why not try it? After all, what have we got to lose? Certainly not our sense of humor! Lyn
"The world is my country; mankind is my brethren; to do good is my religion"
